At the Redbush Tea Company we are delighted to be endorsed as the tea of choice of Mma Ramotswe and The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency.

Readers of Alexander McCall Smith’s award winning series of books about Precious Ramotswe will know of course that her favourite brew is Redbush Tea. Throughout all the books to date Mma Ramotswe extols the virtues of Redbush in no uncertain terms. "This tea is for people who really appreciate tea. Ordinary tea is for anyone." Morality for Beautiful Girls.

Tradition has always been at the heart of Redbush Tea; it is still produced in the same way as it has always been - planted and then harvested by hand, it is piled over night in vast yards to ferment. At dawn the wet leaves are then spread out in a thin layer to dry in the hot African sun, before being taken for pasteurisation and grading. The fact that rooibos is the only herbal tea that is still produced in this time honoured method is something of which we feel Mma Ramotswe would highly approve. We would very much like to say ‘Ke itumetse thata, Mma’ or thank you in Setswana, the language of Mma Ramotswe.
